Self-esteem is the assessment or overall subjective emotional evaluation an individual has of his/her own self. Self-esteem is attractive as a social psychological construct because researchers have conceptualized it as an influential predictor of certain outcomes, such as academic achievement, happiness, satisfaction in marriage and relationships, and criminal behavior. Two decades ago the core self-evaluations approach included self-esteem as one of four dimensions that comprise one’s fundamental appraisal of oneself. Core self-evaluations (CSE) represent a stable personality trait which encompasses an individual’s subconscious, fundamental evaluations about themselves, their own abilities and their own control. People who have high core self-evaluations will think positively of themselves and be confident in their own abilities. Conversely, people with low core self-evaluations will have a negative appraisal of themselves and will lack confidence. Social recognition also contributes largely to an individual’s self esteem. Where there is less social recognition, a person may grow criminal tendency. When the society looks down upon a person he tends to retaliate with whatever possible manner he can contemplate. Social recognition can improve not only self esteem but also efficiency, loyalty and friendliness of a person.
Three Wheel Drivers, most of whom are on our tyres, can be introduced as a community that has been ignored in terms of professional standard but contribute considerably to the public transport demand. Lack of training and minimum pre requisites have made the three wheel driver community fall out of not only professional but also life standards. DSI Tyres saw the need of guiding this community in order to get a better service from them and to make them improve their lives. Hence, we have initiated DSI Tyres Herawumaka Arambuma as our CSR commitment to make them improve their life standards.
